A ski trip where the mountain cost money and the room didn't

Ski towns in season are where hotel rates go to misbehave. A mid-winter weekend in Park City can run you several hundred a night before you've clicked into a single binding. Ours ran zero, because the room went on a World of Hyatt free-night award at the Hyatt Centric, right in town.
Why a ski town is a great redemption
The whole game with award nights is spending them where the cash price is ugliest. A resort town in February qualifies. The same free night that would save you a hundred at a highway hotel saves you three or four times that here, which is exactly where you want to be pointing it.

Point your free night at the expensive week
A World of Hyatt free night is worth the most in a ski town in February. The card that hands you one every year pays for itself on a single trip like this.
