The Park Hyatt New York is Hyatt's top brand in its most expensive market. On a busy date its cash rate climbs well past a thousand dollars a night, before tax. That is exactly the room a free-night award is built for. Use the award here and a single night can be worth more than a year of the card's fee. Use it on a roadside motel and you've thrown it away.
Why split across two hotels
Two free nights don't have to sit in the same lobby. Splitting the trip — one hotel, then another a couple of days later — let the trip cover two different neighborhoods and two different rooms without a dollar changing hands either time. When award nights are the currency, a split stay costs you nothing extra and doubles the experience.
