A Nashville weekend across two Hyatts, and we paid for neither room

Downtown Nashville — October 2023.

Nashville on a weekend is not cheap. Rooms downtown spike whenever there's a game, a bachelorette party, or, honestly, most Fridays. We spent a couple of nights there across two different Hyatts and paid the room rate at neither one.

Both nights went on World of Hyatt free-night awards, split across two properties a short walk apart:

Why split it

There's no rule that both free nights have to burn at the same hotel. Splitting the stay let one night be the flashy downtown tower and the next be a roomier suite with a kitchen, and neither one cost a dollar. When the currency is award nights, variety is free.

The confirmation on the Hyatt House night listed a cash rate near two hundred dollars for the room we didn't pay for. That's the tell: the award quietly absorbed a real, printed number.

Getting there

Half the fun of a trip like this starts at the airport. We flew in on points-friendly routing and, as the photos below show, caught one of those sunset-over-the-wing moments that makes the whole cattle-car experience worth it.

One card, two free nights

A single World of Hyatt anniversary free night can cover a weekend like this when you split it right — and Chase points top up the balance one-to-one when you need a second.
